Students who wish to apply to travel to France must be 15 years of age by June 1st of the year of the exchange. Interviews will be conducted in December and students will be notified of their selection by the end of the month. The trip to Arles is usually scheduled for the last week of June through the middle of July. French students travel to the United States with the returning York students. The French students will be in York approximately 2 weeks as well. The French students return home at the end of July. Students who are selected to go to Arles must host the French students with whom they have stayed upon their return home. Students are expected to reschedule part-time jobs during the stay of the French student in order to spend substantial time with him or her. Students are expected to attend the travel meetings before the trip and also share their experiences with York Twinning Association at its November meeting. Students are also expected to share their experiences with students who will travel to Arles the following summer. The Marguerite Eriksson Memorial Fund is available to students who demonstrate an exceptional ability in French and/or need.
